The FORE vid (and MORE)

Published by therockrelic under Uncategorized Edit This

“Now, for … all yew … fffffFORE fanzzzz … in th’ audience, rrrrrrrIIIGHT here, on … ARE staige …”

Okay … so I’m not Sullivan. But I toldja the Relic knows a successful act when he hears it!! And, Rockaholics, this is just one of their hits! Now, with all that’s goin’ on In The Fore-Front over the next few months, you’re undoubtedly lookin’ at the band that’s at the helm of a Rock Revolution unheard of since The Beatles!

Already, their popularity is unmatched throughout Britain, building up around the world … and now growing in the United States! These lads have played everywhere from streetsides to the Cavern Club (where the manager has asked them to be the resident band, much as the Fab Four were, years earlier), before thousands in London, and on BBC-TV. They have six instrumental tracks on Rare and Unseen: The Beatles DVD, re-enacting J,P,G&R in a small segment, and are working on their next CD (sales of the present one, Black & White, have skyrocketed lately!).

Look for more of The Fore vids coming up. But, for now, meet the lads themselves:

Simon Thompson (drums, vocals, singing Man Of Few Words here)

Spencer Hannabuss (bass guitar, vocals, founder, songwriter)

Luke Bentley (rhythm guitar, vocals)

Matt Hardy (lead guitar, vocals)

Now … IN THE NEWS:

JAMES BROWN’S estate filed suit in South Carolina this week against investment hotshots Morgan Stanley because they allowed Mr. Brown’s former manager to take $12 mil from his account over the decade before the Godfather’s death. THIS JUST INTO RELICNEWS: If recent allegations over the cause of the singer’s death are found to be true (and only exhumation will bear that out), the manager will be a prime suspect in the death.

Meanwhile, Mr. Brown’s “wife”, Tomi Rae Hynie, was ordered on Friday to have a DNA test performed on their six-year-old son to determine if he, in fact, is an heir to the Godfather’s fortune.

WALK RIGHT IN

Y’know, in the course of The Relic’s journeys, I’ve come across a lot of folks whose arthritis, age or disabilities make it hard for them to climb into a standard tub for their shower or bath.

Fortunately, there are walk-in tubs that are of immense help to these people. Now, if ya go to local stores, you might find ‘em a bit scarce, because so many of them carry only standard tubs.

But there’s one site that carries them, as well as faucets, vanities and more. And there’s more: They also have some of the best prices you could find anywhere!

No waiting … no “searching” … a great selection, and at fantastic prices! You can’t do better than that! Just think: You have the luxury and the assistance you need to indulge in that warm, soothing bath, at wholesale prices … and free shipping!

And all you have to do to take advantage of all this and find the walk in tub that’s just right for you is to click the link I just gave you! C’mon — you owe it to yourself, right?? So check it out today!

Okay, that’s it for this edition. Until next time (ie, later today) remember: Keep your eyes on the skies, your feet on the ground, your heart with the music … and I’ll see ya on the flip side.

Are Ya Ready? Then LET’S ROCK!

Published by therockrelic under Uncategorized Edit This

Throughout the world at this hour, bands are tuning up, studio mixing boards are being adjusted, fans are buying tickets for concerts and radios are playing Top 40 from 1964 … or is it 1966 … or ‘67?

Contracts are being discussed for a four-man band out of Kent, England, who’s already starting to set the rock world on fire again. TV shows on both sides of the Great Pond are showcasing guitar bands (and, on occasion, piano) who break out the 4/4 beat again, and industry (and Arbitron) headlines show that more young people than ever are craving the sounds that made rock famous.

People, it’s inescapable: It’s time to ROCK again!!

To that end, The Rock Relic will soon be debuting a new, hard-copy rockzine called Let’s Rock! Its not only gonna bring the best of yesterday’s sounds to a new audience, but also the rebirth of the great beat that set the musical world on its ear and became the most popular and favored sound in the world!

The front page and lead article will feature The Fore, but it’ll also feature stars like Ron Ryan and The Fratellis, contests, little-known facts, and quizzes. While in the planning stage as I write this, the first issue should be off-the-presses and ready to dig into by September.

The plan is to pattern it after Lloyd Thaxton’s Tiger Beat magazine of the mid-Sixties (a sample is on your right — though it’s not my copy, which is a bit older).

SPEAKIN’ OF QUIZZES:

Can you figure out these number one songs in the UK during the ’60s? Now, the first word (in fact, the first title) is given for you, but can ya figure out the others?

Now … for the next part of the quiz: Who sang each song?

WHO SAID IT? In response to a reporter who was insistent that, in order to rebuild the world, you had to destroy it, a rocker replied, “You smash it - and I’ll build round it.” (Hint: it was 1968)

IN THE FORE-FRONT:

After a rather quiet April (during which they began rehearsing numbers for their new album), the lads are gearing up for a wild May! They’ve been booked solid throughout the month, and CD sales of Black & White are really jumping!

But they’ve also caught the ear of some serious A&Rs and (I’m not allowed to ’spill the beans’ yet) it wouldn’t surprise me if one of these major labels offered The Fore a fat, juicy contract by the time their May venues are completed!

And they now have one of the greatest songwriters in rock history sharing advice and friendship: the great Ron Ryan! I can just imagine what a collaboration between this musical legend and The Fore could bring!

Now, if you’re not a ForeFan yet, you’re missing out on history in the making! One listen to their music (you’ll find a link on their site), one view of their vids, one look at the mates, and you’ll definitely be one before leavin’ the page! And, if you live anywhere near one of their venues, you’ve gotta see ‘em in person to get the “Full Fore Effect”! Check ‘em out now at their website!

EVERYTHING BUT THE …

Too many sites seem to offer ya “everything but the kitchen sink” — but it’s the one piece of kitchen equipment we can’t do without! And, unfortunately, it’s also the one that’s been most likely to give out first.
But, now, you can have an absolutely gorgeous and durable sink, with its faucets, seals, attachments and more, and for a price that won’t strip your wallet of its dignity! As many of you know, my daddy usedta be a plumber, and I first heard of the people you’re about to meet (by clicking the link I’m gonna give you) from my brother-in-law, who’d worked for him, years ago. He said (and I quote), “They’re the best brand on the market!” (1993, Dinkey Griffin, Pineville, NC).
Now, they have more than just the beautiful sinks waitin’ for you: They also offer you water filtration systems, free shipping (with orders over $99), no sales tax outside New York, fast delivery — even an instant $10 coupon!!
So, if you’re lookin’ for a handsome sink that’ll complement your kitchen decor, is also durable and dependable, and will save you money in the process, just click on the link that’ll take you to the finest in Franke sinks now. You’ll be really glad you did …

Okay … that’s it for this go-round. Until next time (oh … one more quiz: How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll™ pop? Or will we ever know?), remember to keep your eyes on the skies, your feet on the ground, your heart with the music … and I’ll see ya on the flip side.

Concerting Concerns (or Concerning Concerts)

Published by therockrelic under Uncategorized Edit This

Sittin’ downtown in a railway station* isn’t gonna be boring for a lotta lucky riders in Chi-Town soon. Matter of fact, they might get so excited they’ll miss the A-Train.

Y’see, Amtrak is plannin’ a big wingding there on May 10(it’s for National Train Day, whatever that is), and get this: They’re gonna throw a big rock party that’ll include former members of Santana, Journey, Boston, Steppenwolf, Toto and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Now, since the 10th’s on Saturday (remember, the nextday’s Mothers’ Day here in the states and California!) , they say there won’t be a lotta commuters! Look … I’ve been to Union in Chicago. The place is normally packed — even on cartoon-day! But … with a rock concert? Are you kidding?

BEEN ASKED TO REPEAT IT

In today’s RelicMail, a reader from Washington (state), who’s been followin’ this site from the get-go, asked that, when I updated yer friendly neighborhood rock spot, I include the Doo-Wop link from yesterday’s edition. So, in honor of Rockaholics across the globe (and the car I almost wrecked thanx to the laughter it inspired!), here ’tis:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1Z1AdrGTFs

You’re gonna learn a few (ahem!) tricks of the early artists, and will never think of one of Buddy Holly’s songs the same again!

DIDJA KNOW THAT:

The Eagles were once called The Emergencies?

Guess Who were named by a promo gimmick? Yeah … an A&R with Quality Records sent a promo copy of Shakin’ All Over to radio stations, but was afraid it’d get buried under all the British records. So he just sent it out with a plain white label and the words “Guess who?” written on it. He thought it would make the stations curious enough to play it. They did … and the handwritten gimmick became the band’s name!

The Everly Brothers’ hit, Bye, Bye Love, was originally offered to, and turned down by, Elvis Presley?

IN THE FORE-FRONT

Listen … if ya haven’t visited the lads’ site yet, or heard their music, you gotta go there now! (just right-click on the links and choose “open in new window”). At the rate the band’s progressing, you’ll wanna be part of THE FORE-FRONT from now on!!

They’re already considering a contract that can, eventually, get their music before millions of TV and movie viewers. Three of the biggest names in records also have their material and are studying it for a possible contract, as well.

And manager Neil is already needin’ to get some more CDs printed and shipped … the band is that much in demand!

AWWWW, C’MON … SPOIL YER CAR!

Face it — with today’s high-trafficked roads, and gas prices bein’ sky-high, it only makes common sense to have a spoiler installed on the rear of your vehicle.
Y’see, it not only increases a smooth airflow around your car (thus increasing its maneuverability), but helps to save gas by doing so! They decrease lift and make the vehicle more aerodynamic in the process. Besides, they look fantastic!
Now, there are a lot of places that claim to provide the best spoilers (or “wings”), but you’ll have to put in a lot of time and effort to find ‘em — and, even then, ya can’t really be sure if they’re the ones for your make and model.
But, listen … by clicking on the link I’m about to give you, you’ll find the best assortment, custom or factory-style, for your specific vehicle! Not only that, but you’ll find tremendous savings, warranties, gift certificates and a whole lot more!
And you can shop via a very secure site. Your information is totally protected from hackers!
So, for the best-looking, best-performing and best-on-your-wallet-prices, just click the link that’ll take ya to the greatest selection of rear spoilers on the web (or otherwise!).
Believe me, you — and your car (which is about to look very spiffy) — will appreciate it!!

A NEW UPDATE ON PETE DINTINO, MORE FROM THE FORE AND RON RYAN, AND EVEN MORE NEWS COMIN’ UP IN ABOUT24 HOURS … SO STAY TUNED!

Until then, remember to keep your eyes on the skies, your feet on the ground, your heart with the music (and Pete) … and I’ll see ya on the flip side.

More or Less, Odds and Ends

Published by therockrelic under Uncategorized Edit This

Alright … by now ya know the Relic’s HQ’d in the foothills of Appalachians, right? And ya know I’ve toldja about my li’l band of mouse-samplin’ whiskerlickers underfoot, right? ) Okay, then: to yer left, meet the real “Hillbilly Cat”!

Hey … have ya ever wondered where that old moniker came from? Y’see, for years, jazz pianists would use it
to describe their fellow musicians — and, eventually, it began to be the slang for every cool dude on the block!

According to an old ivory-tickler from Nawlins that I had a chance to meet a few years back, the expression actually came about by way of the old tomcat, who’d be on the prowl for a purty thang out in the alley. Natch, the feline always played it cool and easy to get ‘er interested.
Well, as music began to have a bit of sexual undertone, the word “cool cat” became synonymous with an easy-going musician. As pop (and, a bit later, rock) began to climb the charts, the name was applied to musicians in their acts as well. (Of course, there are other explanations, but Mr. Potter was certain about his … ’sides, it makes sense, right?)

Now, awhile back, I toldja about a Sixties British band that, while not makin’ the journey to the US as part of the Invasion, still had a strong following at home. When I said that they were very close to the Everly Brothers in their harmony, the RockMail started showin’ a few fangs (ie, mail from rabid EB fans who thought I was just makin’ it up! No one could sound like Don and Phil, they said… and I agree! I said they were close!!). Anyway, since the Relic doesn’t “make anything up”, here’s proof; A pic of the Del Renas in performance! They did excellent covers of EB tunes like Sigh, Cry, Almost Die and When Will I Be Loved? (So there, nay-sayers!!)

Also mentioned in an earlier post about Jimi Hendrix’s draft of Purple Haze. I said he’d originally planned to call it Jesus Saves … and, almost automatically, readers wanted proof!

Sooooo, without further adieux, here’s a shot of Jimi’s original draft (although, quite frankly — and considering we were having a squabble of some kind in ‘Nam at the time–, I don’t think the words “Jimi Hendrix” and “draft” should be used in the same sentence. Yes, he was in the Army in ‘61, but only to avoid goin’ to prison for riding in a stolen car. He was discharged a year later, btw).

MAYBE IT’S IN THE GENES

When an Australian group called The Easybeats started makin’ wild, guitar-based rock (with an Eastern influence) in the mid-Sixties, not many teens gave notice. Sure, Friday On My Mind was fun (though the “B” side, Made My Bed [Now I Gotta Lie In It] was totally fab, in both writing and performance!), it just didn’t turn a lotta kids on; instead, it was relegated to compilation LPs. Still, rockers Harry Vanda and George Young built an amazingly-talented band!! (Btw, The Easybeats’ drummer, “Snowy” Fleet, was originally with the Liverpool group, The Mojos, in their heyday)

About a dozen years later, the new generation dug the romantic Love Is In The Air by John Paul Young — and, a decade later, an even newer generation was goin’ wild over a hard-rock band called AC/DC and its stompin’ guitarist, Angus Young.
Three generations … different sounds … but all related to each other (Angus and George were brothers, and John Paul was a cousin.) !
And now there’s word of a new batch of Youngs gettin’ together to work the rock circuit for the coming generation!
Natch, there are other acts that can boast the same thing (like Nat “King”/Natalie Cole, Meat Loaf, Ringo and Zak Starkey and others), but the most prolific and visible proof of it could be found in those five lads from Australia!

And, to accent what was posted here about early BritBand guitarists having to play on strings that were so fitfully set (so hard to play that sometimes their fingers would bleed):
One of the ‘Pool’s top bands was Faron’s Flamingos. Check out the bass guitar that Faron (Bill) Ruffley played, and you’ll see what I’m talkin’ about.

Incidentally, of the group (btw, one of the most histrionic of the Brit bands, with Faron doing jumps & knee-dives and drummer Trevor Morais doing back-flips off his drumstool), original lead Nicky Crouch went on to perform with The Mojos along with “Snowy” of The Easybeats!
(ahhh … again it all comes together!)

IN THE FORE-FRONT

The lads are gearin’ up to play on a bill with the G2’s which, as many of you know, is the famous Genesis tribute band! This is gonna increase their exposure and show the world exactly what Spencer, Matt, Simon and Luke are all about! It’s just another step on the road to stardom for these Fore great performers!
But wait … is there … is it possible?? Maybe a contract looming? Stay tuned … you’ll wanna hear more about this as it develops, ForeFans!
Now, if you’re around Shrewsbury, Shropshire in a few weeks, you’ve got a great chance to see the band as they excite thousands of fans when they share the bill with the Bootleg Beatles! And if you haven’t gotten your copy of Rare and Unseen: The Beatles yet, I’ll tell ya like my mama usedta say: “Gitcher fannies down there an’ git one’a them thangs now, ‘fore they’re all gawnnn …” (I loved mama, and always — well, often — did what she said! Well, sometimes … ) You’re gonna want this piece of history (wellll, I did occasionally, anyway …)! It’s outtasite!!

(Awwww, I hadta!! Ever hear of the dreaded “Hinson hickory switch”? It wasn’t pretty …)

Well, that’s it for … hey! They’ve found out what was makin’ Pete Dintino sorta “backslide” a little! After adjustin’ some meds, he’s doin’ a lot better! And still pronounced “cancer-free”!
Anyway … that’s it for this go-round, so, until later today, when we dive back into the ‘Pool, Thames, Themes and Scenes, remember: Keep yer eyes on the skies, yer feet on the ground, yer heart with the music, yer prayers (and thoughts)with Pete … and I’ll see ya on the flip side!

Robots, Walls and More!!

Published by therockrelic under Uncategorized Edit This

My, my … what is this old world coming to??

I mean, lookit what the folks at Gibson® have done, wouldja? Yep … you’re lookin’ straight at the first robot guitar!! Now, before ya think it’s gonna play itself, lemme fill ya in on what it really does:

This little marvel actually tunes itself, rather than havin’ pickers like us turnin’ and tweakin’ our tuning lugs, pickin’ the affected string(s) softly while we try to get our Strats or Ricks back in tune. It uses robotic Powerhead Tuners on the headstock, and, in its Limited Edition First-Run, it seems to work perfectly.

(Huh?? Naaaah … I wouldn’t. Look … how’re ya ever gonna get a “trained ear” for the right sound if it does the work for ya? You’ll never know what sounds “right” or “wrong”, right? Wrong? ‘Sides, if ya really want somethin’ useful, why not make it brew coffee while you’re playin’??)

OLIVIA WALKS THE GREAT WALL

With her formerly-missing boyfriend, “faithful” John Easterling supporting her (he’d returned home after hearing his sister-in-law is dying of a brain tumor), songstress Olivia Newton-John is continuing her 21-day charity walk of the Great Wall of China. She started it on April 6 and has already raised five million dollars for breast cancer research.

ROCKIN’ THE UNIVERSITY

Queen guitarist Bri … er, Dr. Brian May (he’s a PhD) has just taken up as Chancellor of John Moore University in Liverpool. He’s taken over from Cherie Blair, wife of former PM Tony Blair. At the ceremony, he said he’s workin’ on a sequel to the musical, We Will Rock You, which has already been seen by about two million people over the past five-years-and-change.

(Oh … is it just me, or does anybody else see a similarity between him in this pose and TV’s Craig Ferguson? Okay … maybe I’m dreamin’ …)

ALICIA STICKS BY HER … GUNS??

While not exactly “classic rock”, this is too good to pass up: Alicia Keys (who’s one of the best songbirds on the market, IMHO) has already been under fire for nixing the overused phrase, “gangsta rap”, but now people are wondering if she’s terroristic! Y’see, she’s got a pendant that has AK-47 on it with the words “Knock ‘em dead” under it. She says, though, that it’s a homage to her nickname (from Alicia Keys. The “47″ has something to do with her songs, I understand.) and the little slogan is, as most performers know, another way of sayin’ “Give ‘em a helluva show!!” Man, in this paranoid world, it seems people will make some kinda “connection” outta anything! Listen … if Alicia says the pendant means what she says, then it’s so! I’ve never known the woman to lie about anything …

MORE ON THE FORE-FRONT, RON RYAN and PETE’S PROGRESS IN OUR NEXT SEGMENT LATER TODAY … SO STAY TUNED!!

Wait … I’ve gotta share this with ya (man, it is just too cool to stay under wraps!). A few days back, Luke (of The Fore) sent me this vid — it’s a parody on Doo-Wop (not my talkin’ cat … I mean the real deal), and it’s … well, ya just gotta see it! (and, just as a teaser, lemme just say, you’ll remember Buddy Holly well after you’ve seen this!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1Z1AdrGTFs

UP THE DOWN SIDE

Actually, I’m talkin’ down comforters here. In just a few minutes, I’ll be hittin’ the one I’ve got (y’see, it’s almost 6 AM and I’m a bit tired …). It honestly gives ya the sweetest sleep, and provides the best in insulation and design!
Now, when ya click on the link I’m about to give ya, you’ll find the best selections of comforters in the sleepin’ business! Warm, cozy, comfortable … man, ya couldn’t ask for more! They have the most trusted of names, the most beautiful in design … and some amazing low prices!! In fact, you’ll find even more when you click to choose your choice of snuggly down comforters. Believe me, you’ll feel sooooo good when you’re relaxed under one of these “sleeping beauties” that you’ll wanna tell your friends and family about ‘em! Click that link now and see what I mean!

Okay … that’s it for this segment, so until next time, remember: Keep your eyes on the skies, your feet on the ground, your heart with the music (and Pete Dintino) … and I’ll see ya on the flip side.

On Rod, Ron, The Fore (and more …)

Published by therockrelic under Uncategorized Edit This

Well, I think we all expected a book to be in Rod Stewart’s future somewhere, considerin’ his escapades over the years … and now he’s finally workin’ on it! He just signed a big, multi-million-dollar contract with Harper-Collins to do his autobio!!

The Relic first got wind of Rod back with a group called Jimmy Powell and the Five Dimensions (he sounded a bit different back then, but could play some mean harmonica!), and methinks the man knows how to “soul” it up (much better than either Michaels, McDonald or Bolton!). But what really threw me for a loop was when he started beltin’ out pop songs (ala Tony Bennett or Frank Sinatra). Gotta admit, the man’s got talent!

Speakin’ of talent, the best in the writing biz is still the great Ron Ryan. This amazing musical machine not only penned what some call The Dave Clark Five’s best songs, but, IMHO, is still churning out some of the best songs known to rock or country! If ya want to know more about Ron, click on his site here … and be ready for an amazing story! (Oh … and didja know that he’s now listed on the DC5’s Wikipedia page? Since he actually did write two of the Five’s greatest hits [Because and Any Way You Want It], he’s listed there!

FROM “FIVE” TO “FORE”

Nope, it isn’t clock time (although it’s the A. M. time when Relic starts wrappin’ up the night’s work). It’s (hey … don’t blame me for workin’ late! Got some strrrrong coffee!!) a seque to what’s becoming the greatest rock band to hit the stage since the original Merseybeat: The Fore!

Now, if you’re a rookie to this site, lemme just fill ya in about these lads: I’ve been in the music biz in one form or another since “Rock” was still “Pebble”, and have seen/interviewed/dealt with a lot of “name” acts from the period. But these are, without a doubt, the best I’ve heard since The Fab Four themselves!! They’ve not only got fans across the pond goin’ wild for their music, and have exactly the same elements that the Beatles had, but they’re also young, lively and handsome!!

Now, they’re headin’ into rehearsals for their second album (now, if you haven’t gotten their debut CD, Black & White, then go here now and order it! Wanna hear tracks first? Well, if ya tune in to Hotspot Radio Network, you’ll get a good taste — or go here and click on their widget! You’ll be in THE FORE-FRONT by the time the first song’s finished!!

While the mates are updatin’ their site, they’re also thisclose to gettin’ a major recording contract! Negotiations are underway as I write this for some major labels to check their CD and press! Hey … if you’re in the ForeFront, I’ve got an idea: Let’s put some fire under these labels and persuade them to sign the lads! Interested? (hey … there’s power in numbers!) Just give me a shout-out here … and I’ll send ya the 411. For all the rest, give ya the ones who are most interested in just a few posts!

WEIGHT A MINUTE …

Y’know, there are a lot of readers among you who like to lift weights (c’mon, now … you know who you are!). This exercise isn’t just to build muscles anymore; it’s also to build endurance, get a good cardio workout, and the endorphinal levels increase (those are the “feel-good” chemicals in the brain) and make you feel better mentally!
Of course, anyone in a weightlifting program will tell you that ya need the right equipment to handle the exercise correctly. Remember: the muscles you’re trying to build and tone are also prone to strains, tears and bruises!
Now, the best place to find the right equipment and accessories is found at the link I’m about to give you. But it’s not just a place to find ‘em … it’s the place (you’ll know the moment you click onto that link)! And they have much more than just “weights”! You’ll find accessories, an easy payment plan, free shipping (for a limited time, anyway), various systems — it’s everything you’d ever want in a weightlifting store!
And all you have to do to find the very best in weight equipment is to click on that link! Believe me, you’ll really be satisfied with what you find! Go ahead and do it now, okay?

Well, that’s it for this one, Rockaholics! So, until next time, remember: Keep yer eyes on the skies, yer feet on the ground, yer heart with the music (and remember Pete Dintino, too!) … and I’ll see ya on the flip side!

Rare and Unseen: The BEATLES!

Published by therockrelic under Uncategorized Edit This

INTRODUCING …THE ULTIMATE BEATLES DVD!

If you’re a fan of The Beatles, trust me … you’ve gotta lay your hands on this piece of history!! I just bought my copy (PS it was the last in the bin; the rest had already been sold!) and, Rockaholics, it lives up to everything we’ve been told it’d be!

Remember a number of posts ago, where The Relic toldja about the “just-discovered” footage of the Fab Four from Scotland? It’s on here! Wanna see the very first footage of the Beatles performing? It’s on here! Wanna see my cat’s pawprint? It’s on here … (er, on mine, anyway. Fortunately, it’s just on the jacket … which is cleanable …)

You’ll also be hearing John tell ya who actually caused him to leave Liverpool; seeing one of the earliest shots of George as a Beatle (not seen before!); seeing parts of their “home movies” and a lot more hitherto-unseen Beatle footage; hearing from those who were closest to them, professionally, and the best and most fitting background music for any Beatle documentary … instrumental tracks performed by The Fore!

Rarities, excitement, a history lesson you wouldn’t get anywhere else … it’s all here!! So, once again, The Rock Relic definitely gives it an A++!! (I would say “two thumbs up,” but how’m I gonna type this if I do that?? Hold on … okay, I did it anyway!) If you’re a real Beatles fan, ya GOTTA get yer hands on this!! Get it at yer local record store or order online NOW!! Don’t let this rare piece of history slip through your fingers (’sides, it could break that way, y’know!!).

NOW … ON TO OTHER THINGS:

Speakin’ of Beatles, in a way: didja know that Britney and Farrah’s med records weren’t the only ones that were pilfered and breached from UCLA Medical Center? George Harrison’s were back in 2001!

It’s been reported that crimes might’ve been the cause of death of both Sonny Bono (of Sonny and Cher – and, later, Senatorial– fame) and the legendary James Brown. Word is (as I reported here) that Sonny might’ve been beaten to death by drug lords who knew he was about to “blow the whistle” on their setup.

Mr. Brown was said to possibly have been poisoned by thieves who wanted to find the “fortune” he allegedly had buried on his South Carolina estate. In fact, his friends are calling for his body to be exhumed and tested by toxicologists!

And Heather Mills has made one of the most outlandish claims (okay, stupid, then!), saying she doused the head of Sir Paul’s attorney just after the divorce proceedings because she wanted to “baptize” her for something the poor, misguided barrister had done wrong!

IN THE FORE-FRONT

This past Tuesday, the lads began rehearsing numbers to be included on their next CD, and the buzz going on around Relictown is that their fanbase is growing fast!!

And … is there a recording contract in their future?? From the reports I’ve been gettin’, there’s a certain record group that’s seriously watchin’ the band, and I FOREcast one in the very near future! Hey … it’s inevitable!!

Their work on the Rare & Unseen DVD is bound to bring a lot of new fans into the ForeFront, obviously.

The Relic’s never met more sincere, personable and definitely more energetic young men than Spencer, Simon, Luke and Matt! When you get a chance to hear these lads in action, whether by CD, on Hotspot and other radio networks or live, take it!! You’ll be watchin’ or hearin’ rock history-in-the-making!

A NEW UPDATE ON PETE DINTINO

As you know, we’ve been keepin’ up with “Shadow’s” fight against leukemia (one which is, without a doubt, the bravest and most miraculous fight anyone’s ever seen!). Lately, the reports have been a bit sparse, but, just minutes ago, I received word from Pete’s angel-daughter, Lin. He’s gonna need your prayers and good vibes, Rockaholics:

“Hello Everyone, well the MRI and CT scan didn’t show anything of appreciation. His blood clot is unchanged and they couldn’t find a reason for the fever. The fever eventually went down to a borderline 37.9C. Unfortunately he has slipped a little the GVH has spread from a rash to his gut. They will treat that with high doses steroids, this though will negatively effect his muscular myopathy. His shaking is much worse and will continue to get worse before it gets better. He also has become more confused this last week. They aren’t exactly sure why but they are having a meeting to discuss the possibilities, I will of course will be present for this and can hopefully provide you all with an answer. He needs our continued prayer and support because he is certainly not out of the woods. We have to leave this in God’s hands. In addition to his physical battle he is also fighting a mental battle, he has been in the hospital for over two months and is depressed, as anyone would be in his situation. I’m still confident that God hasn’t brought him this far to let him go, he is going to make it, it just isn’t going to be easy, of course nothing he does is ever easy! Hoping that the next update is a good one, Love Lin”

Okay, Rockaholics … ya know what I’m gonna say, right?? Then LET‘S DO IT!! The superdrummer/friend/rocker/inspiration hasn’t fought this far to drop, right?? So send those prayers and thoughts out “special delivery, next-minute-air” — matter of fact, take a second here to stop and send out some special thoughts and prayers for Peter in this tremendous fight. Then come on back, and we’ll wrap it up, okay??

Thanks.

THE WEIGHT IS GONNA COME OFF …

Now, how many times have ya heard that from someone? You’re told about this-or-that concoction, diet, etc. that’ll certainly help do it, right?? Only to find out it doesn’t do the trick …
But, now, there’s a product that really does help you lose weight … and also helps ya lose those wrinkles and acne!
Y’see, Lipovox contains 150 mg of green tea, which, as you know, is one of the best weight-loss ingredients around; but it also has loads of antioxidants, which keeps insulin levels straight and fights inflammation (a cause of obesity and wrinkles). But it also has other necessary vitamins, minerals and fatty acids (like Omega-3).
It’s been around since 2005 and, when you click the link I’m about to give you, you’ll find out a lot more about lipovox, including some great customer reviews!! But, more than that, you’ll also find the product very wallet-friendly, and you’ll even see why this is the “real deal” and not one of those “concoctions” mentioned earlier.
Look … I know the green-tea and antioxidants work, and everyone should know by now of the effectiveness of Omega-3. Now … imagine getting all this, in an easy-to-take supplement that works … and at a cost that you can easily handle … and with testimony as to its effectiveness as well!
You’ll find all that by clicking on the link that’ll introduce you to lipovox — and, believe me, you’ll be glad ya did!

Now … until next go-round, remember:

Keep your eyes to the skies, your feet on the ground, your heart with the music (and thoughts/prayers with Pete) … and I’ll see ya on the flip side.

The Rock Revolution Begins!!

Published by therockrelic under Uncategorized Edit This

Awww, I know it’s The Clash, but it works into the post …

Y’see, we’re lookin’ at one humongous revolution goin’ on in the world of rock, and it’s one that’s caused by a clash (seeee?) between three different fronts:

First (and according to USA Today, Rolling Stone and others), kids are rising up against the synth-techno stuff they’re hearin’ on FMs, podcasts and CDs. They’re wantin’ the music that made it all happen in the first place: The sounds of the British Invasion (well, at least up to Led Zep!). But here’s the kicker: They love the old stuff, but they want new songs, new acts … on CD, vids and, especially, live … that have the sound (and attitude).

Now, geez … where oh where can we find that? I’ll scratch my FOREhead, give it some FOREthought, and get back with ya beFORE this post is done (get the point?).

Secondly, everybody’s lookin’ for some relief from the tremendous social and economic pressures caused by a certain Administration … and, at the same time, feel a sense of optimistic anticipation that, before long, it’ll be gone and better times will come to pass.

And, thirdly (and most importantly), young people are beginning to see that the Sixties sounds had more substance to ‘em! Not only did the lads and ladies have to work their way up with real instruments (as opposed to computerized “loops”), but they performed on streets, small clubs, private gatherings and such before they made it into the bigtime! They composed their own material — and were onstage for the love of the music and not the “almighty dollar” that’d bring them “bling” or whatever. In short, they were real …

Now, the new interest in The Beatles is being fueled by the new Rare & Unseen: The Beatles DVD (ya gotta get it!), in the DC5 by the R&R HoF, in Kinks by the TV commercials (and a possible reunion of the originals) and others. And, with the introduction of The Fore to more and more fans, people are beginning to dig the raw energy of the music!

Yeah, I said in the last post that the music has sort of a healing power (and that’s true! More on that in another post shortly) … but, even better (and as has been proved), it has a staying power as well! I mean, it’s been forty-four years since the Beatles stepped off that plane at JFK; how many of today’s acts are gonna be remembered and played nearly a half-century from now??

IN THE FORE-FRONT: While the lads are still on the trail of a solid contract (and, believe me, it’s gonna happen! Would the Relic ever steer ya wrong?!?), they’re gettin’ a bit more exposure thanks to their work on the Unseen DVD I toldja about! And their gigbook’s gettin’ filled!

MESOTHELIOMA

It’s a word that sends chills down the spine of most people: a cancer that’s caused by exposure to asbestos. And, though the government has a move on to remove asbestos from public structures, it’s still in so many of our schools, workplaces, etc.
The way it operates is by attacking the serous membranes surrounding various vital organs (membranes known as mesothelia). And it’s incurable at this point. However, there are resources and other helps available to you, both to inform and help in treatment.
Now, the link I’m about to give ya is very vital, and I urge you to click on it and learn more about this cancer. When you reach the page, you’ll find loads of information, news on clinical trials and more pertaining to the disease, a list of doctors who specialize in treatment, cancer nutrition … even a “quick response” box where you can fill in your name, phone, email and a summary of your situation.
Listen — I couldn’t be more serious about this amazingly helpful and necessary site. One of my dearest uncles died due to the ravages of this disease — not knowing that, even though it’s incurable, it is treatable!
So do yourself and those you love a big favor, and find out more about mesothelioma now!

Okay … until next time, remember: Keep your eyes on the skies, your feet on the ground, your heart with the music … and I’ll see ya on the flip side, okay??

The Healing Power of Classic Rock

Published by therockrelic under Uncategorized Edit This

Bruth-uhs an’ Sisss-tuhhhs, they’s POWWWW-uhhhh in th’ MEWWWW-zikkk!! Howl-lay-loo-yuh!!

(ahem … okay, so much for my preacher impersonation. Now ya see why I’m a writer …)

Hey … it’s true! Sixties rock — especially that which hit our shores from the “British Invasion” — carried with it an amazing ability to heal! (hmph … wish my dog would learn tha … oh. That’s “heel”, right? Sorry.)

Y’see, many of the early hits had a definitive rhythmic “bounce” to them. They were danceable, to be sure … but also easy to keep time with. This, according to psychologists, helped improve physical biorhythm.
And the harmony helped add substance to the song, thus their listenability. It caught the listener’s concentrated attention as well (for example, one of the reasons the Vanity Fare hit, Hitchin’ A Ride, was so popular is that kids were listening for the one note that was offkey at the end of each verse of the chorus). Largely, harmony can evoke intense feelings, depending upon the song: romance, sadness, happiness and courage.

The hook of the song is what would get the song into the subconscious, where the listener would hear it over and over. (In fact, Over and Over is also an example! But the greatest of the time, obviously, was the Beatles’ She Loves You.) And, if the song is something that’s lively, happy and is embedded there, then it can help fans out of any “blues” they feel.

Now … going to the instrumental side for a moment: Early bands were sometimes inspired by the lower-four-string style of American guitarist Duane Eddy. The deeper sounds are often considered physically therapeutic as well as emotionally.
I’ll continue this in the next post, so check back in about 24, okay? Right now, gotta go on to these special reminders:

The new RARE AND UNSEEN: THE BEATLES was released to the public last week (April 8th). It’s already gettin’ rave reviews (and, remember: You’ll find material by THE FORE on it as well!) Be sure to get YOUR copy TODAY!! You can learn more about this dynamite DVD HERE!

AND

The music-man himself, LLOYD THAXTON, will soon be debuting his new DVD, which is a look back at his amazing run as America’s teen-show king! Stay tuned for updates on its eagerly-awaited release. (Oh … remember how the show started? Okay, then … ya got its name: MY NAME IS LLOYD THAXTON … SO WHAT??)

SOME QUICK ROCK NEWS

Sheesh … they’re at it again! Those nuts who defaced Ringo’s pic at his old elementary school has also beheaded his foliage-statue at The ‘Pool’s South Partway Rail Station. They left John, Paul and George intact.

An author from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has allegedly “channeled” the spirits of Jim Morrison (The Doors) and Michael Hutchence (INXS) to tell their final stories. Jacqueline Murray’s A Tale of Two Brothers: Jim Morrison & Michael Hutchence can be found at online bookstores.

IN THE FORE-FRONT WILL BE BACK IN THE NEXT POST!! UNTIL THEN, MAKE PLANS TO JOIN THE REVOLUTION!

KICKIN’ IT AROUND

One of the most popular games among youngsters around the world is soccer. I’ve had a few of my relatives play the game, and have tried it myself a few times. Highly competitive, it’s also one where stamina, timing and direct skill is involved (not to mention strong shinbones)!
Now, as we head into sunnier and warmer weather, kids from schools to civic athletic orgs will be converging on fields, playing teams from other areas for a “plus” in the win column. They’ve honed their skills and are ready to give it all they’ve got!

Of course, the winners of the big playoffs and other main events need trophies, right? I mean, it not only shows that they’ve succeeded; it also gives the kids a big boost to know the coaches, staff — and especially parents — appreciate their hard work and determination.
Now the best place to get quality trophies to award your fave team — and the one with quickest delivery (how’s 24 hours sound to ya?) is found just by clicking the link you’ll find here in a second.

But, to make it a little more inviting, let me remind you that these folks are also members of the Better Business Bureau (in other words, as legit as they come), and can do plaques as well as trophies! They also accept PayPal&#8482 payments so ya won’t have to worry about checks bein’ “lost in the mail” or whatever, and have a solid return/exchange policy as well (not that you’ll need it, though; I’ve seen their work, and it’s fantastic!). You’ll be as pleased with the craftsmanship as much as the team will be receiving it!
And all ya gotta do to order the finest and most appropriate soccer trophies is to click on that link ya just passed!
Now … go out there and have a GREAT game!

Well, that’s all the time we have for now, so check back in about 24 or so for more. Until then, remember:

Keep your eyes on the skies, your feet on the ground, your heart with the music (and Pete, who’s improving) .. and I’ll see ya on the flip side.
