Pete Best, MOVIE STAR? (and more …)

Published by therockrelic at 3:53 pm under Uncategorized, rock memories, rock news Edit This

HEADS UP, ENGLAND!! GLITTER’S BACK!!

The image above was taken as he was on his way to Bangkok. Seemed (snif!) nobody else wanted him (okay, everybody now: boo-hoo!!).

The latest word is that this dude — a former glam-rock “star” who served a coupla years in a Vietnamese clink for molestin’ little girls — is back in the UK! And, from what I understand, the suicide watch has been lifted since he’s out of Far Eastern waters. Now he’s demanding round-the-clock protection for some reason (gee … wonder what’s got him so paranoid?)

Natch, the UK’s not gonna let this pervert just walk free; in fact, a judge just rules that he’s gotta sign the sex offenders register within the next 3 days! His attorney’s gonna appeal that ruling, but don’t expect it to work: A UK newspaper ran a story on him yesterday with the headline: “WARNING: This vile man lands back in Britain TODAY!”

But you yardbirds want more of the story, right? Okay .. get this!: he wants to continue his musical career! (Yeah … I know! Any music he makes is gonna be as hard to release as he was!)

Awww, let’s get off that subject and on to brighter news, okay?:

PETE BEST: MOVIE STAR?

Well, not quite … but he does have a cameo role in the new flick, The Rocker.

Y’see, as the main character (who’s kicked outta his ’80s band) is waitin’ at a bus stop and whinin’ “I can’t believe this happened to me,” Pete (who’s at the stop and waiting for the same bus) hears him and replies “I know what you mean!” at about the time the bus pulls up.

Not a bad line for his one-shot, huh? (WOW!! Wonder what he meant by that line? ) ) Anyway, maybe this could lead to bigger roles … who knows??

DUKE OF EARL DUKED!

Looks like Gene Chandler (who sang the famous Duke of Earl years ago) duked it out awhile back — with his brother — and, thanx to his shenanigans, wasn’t paid for his performance! Y’see, they were on a gig with Lou Christie (Lightnin’ Strikes, Rhapsody In The Rain) when his bro told him Lou was gonna be the closing act of the show instead of him! That started the “fight”, and Chandler’s pay went out the window! Natch, he’s gonna sue to recover his fee — which was about $4,000. (I know … you’re askin’ “WHY?” And thousands of Rockiteers [new Rockaholics] are askin’ “Who IS he??”)

Well, I can see by the old clock-on-the-wall that … it’s broken! But, according to my new, precision watch, I’ll be back here tonight at around 13:65 with more … (??? Ummmm … I … think … WalMart™ has a return on its hands! :) )
Anyway … until a later this evening, remember:
Keep your eyes on the skies, your feet on the ground, your heart with the music …
and I’ll see ya on the flip side!
