Hit Parade Hall of Fame
Well, well … looks like the nominees for the 2008 Hit Parade Hall Of Fame is out (just outta curiosity: Just how many “HoFs” are out there? Anybody got a count?) and they include the Bee Gees, Chuck Berry, Bread, Freddy Cannon, Carpenters, Chicago, Lou Christie, John Denver, Dion, Doris Day, the Eagles, the Everly Brothers, Roy Hamilton, Tommy James & the Shondells, Elton John, Tom Jones, the Kingston Trio, Jerry Lee Lewis, Frankie Laine, Dean Martin, Guy Mitchell, the Monkees, Olivia Newton-John, Johnnie Ray, Johnny Rivers, Kenny Rogers, Linda Ronstadt, Sonny & Cher, Kay Starr, B.J. Thomas, Johnny Tillotson, Jackie Wilson and Stevie Wonder.
TO qualify for this HOF, an artist must have had at least two top ten hits during a 30 year period (starting in 1950). Other factors (other than the fans’ voting) are involved, too: career longevity, record sales and concert success. Then they’re voted on by the HPHoF nominating committee at the end of each year.

Oh … and remember: voting for the 2009 awards start soon!
FORGOTTEN QUOTES
A fan from soon-to-be-de-Blagojeviched Illinois wrote in to remind me that I didn’t finish the Beatle quotes like I said a few weeks ago. Soooo, without further ado, let’s get to it, okay? (and thanks, Phil, for reminding me!):
These are from Ringo, George and other Beatle-John related sources):
“That guitar is okay but you’ll never make a living with it”
-John’s Aunt Mimi
RINGO STARR
“We thought that if we lasted for two to three years that would be fantastic.”
“I hope the fans will take up meditation instead of drugs.”
“There’s a woman in the United States who predicted the plane we were traveling on would crash. Now, a lot of people would like to think we were scared into saying a prayer. What we did actually–we drank.” (1966)
“I’ve never really done anything to create what has happened. It creates itself. I’m here because it happened. But I didn’t do anything to make it happen apart from saying ‘Yes’”
“I’d like to end up sort of…unforgettable.”
GEORGE HARRISON
“I’m a tidy sort of bloke. I don’t like chaos. I kept records in the record rack, tea in the tea caddy, and pot in the pot box.” 1969
“I think people who truly can live a life in music are telling the world, ‘You can have my love, you can have my smiles. Forget the bad parts, you don’t need them. Just take the music, the goodness, because it’s the very best, and it’s the part I give most willingly’”
“As far as I’m concerned, there won’t be a Beatles reunion as long as John Lennon remains dead.”
“The nicest thing is to open the newspapers and not to find yourself in them.”
“John had his thing, and Paul had his, and together there were two different things all together. But they fit.”
-Billy Preston
“Now Daddy is part of God. I guess when you die you become much more bigger, because you’re part of everything.”
-Sean Lennon, December 1980
“John loved and prayed for the human race. Please tell people to pray the same for him. Remember that he had deep faith in love and that, though he has now joined the greater force, he is still with us.”
“…the only way you can better John is by copying him exactly.”
-Yoko Ono, Dec. 1980
“John was in constant need of proof of love and security and he was constantly testing people for that proof.”
-Cynthia Lennon
“I declare that the Beatles are mutants. Prototypes of evolutionary agents sent by God, endowed with a mysterious power to create a new human species, a young race of laughing freemen.”
-Timothy Leary
Tune in tomorrow, where there’s gonna be more in about 24 or less! Til then, I’ll see ya on the flip side!
