They’re baaaaack!
Yes, fans, that madcap menagerie of metal madness — collectively known as The Osbournes — is comin’ back to the small screen — in the form of … a variety show!
Uh-huh! Sharon, Jack, Kelly and Ozzy will be featured in “Osbournes Unloaded”, which is sortuva mix of skits, occasional pie-throwing (!?), the odd performance by Ozzy, and appearances by the likes of Pamela Anderson.
The show’s gonna be on the U.S.’ Fox Channel later this spring, but no exact date’s been set yet. And, true to the inimitable Osbourne style, not even the family can agree on what type of show it will be.
Kelly said, “The word ‘variety’ frightens us. No disrespect to other variety shows of the past. It’s just not what we do. We’re not going to be ‘Sonny and Cher’-ing it.”
Only six episodes have been shot. Producers said they’d wait to see how the show was received before making any more.
Asked why he agreed to do the new show, Ozzy answered; “I’m willing to try anything once…We are a very dysfunctional family, doing a very dysfunctional show.”
MOTOWN vs. MOTOR CITY?
Martha Reeves (she of the Vandellas fame) is tryin’ to raise a few million bucks to erect statues of the legendary Motown artists in Detroit, where she is a city councilwoman.
She’s hoping for the likes of The Supremes, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, The Temptations and, of course, Martha and The Vandellas. But the Motor City madmen (of Ford, GM and Chrysler fame) don’t want her to do it.
So I’m kinda curious: What do you think? Should she do it? Personally, I think it’s a great idea (as well as appropriate!). I mean, if Tupelo can put up a gadzillion Elvis markers and statues, then why not the City That Made Soul Famous?
