Awesome Day … and other news.
Man, it has been an awesome day here in America! My only regret is that John Lennon, Marvin Gaye and, above all Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. weren’t here to see the fruits of their efforts for racial equality and understanding!
It was, certainly, an amazing historical event! Now, we know the first hundred days are gonna be the “proving ground” for President Obama and his abilities.
but most Americans feel that, no matter how tough the economy is right now, he’s gonna get through those with flying colors!
IN OTHER NEWS AT THIS HOUR:
Gerry Marsden of Gerry & the Pacemakers is gonna receive the Freedom of The City award from his home town of Liverpool in recognition of his services to charity (this was announced yesterday!). Ceremonies are scheduled for later in the year.
“The thing I love the most about Liverpool is the sense of humour and the Liverpool people,” said Gerry. “You can’t beat it. I am so chuffed and proud and very pleased.” The Beatles, incidentally, were given the same award by the city in the ’80s.
THE LONGEST SONG TITLE?
The longest title of an album that actually made the Billboard chart is by Fiona Apple. Made up of 90 words, the album is called:
“When the Pawn Hits the Conflicts He Thinks Like a King What He Knows Throws the Blows When He Goes to the Fight and He’ll Win the Whole Thing ‘Fore He Enters the Ring There’s No Body to Batter When Your Mind Is Your Might So When You Go Solo, You Hold Your Own Hand and Remember That Depth Is the Greatest of Heights and If You Know Where You Stand, Then You Know Where to Land and If You Fall It Won’t Matter, Cuz You’ll Know That You’re Right”
WHEW! Won’t be whistling that song, will we??
THE FORE TO PLAY BEATLES DAY!
Just got word from The Fore that they’ll be appearing at Liverpool’s Beatles Day on Friday, July 10!
David Jordan, one of the lads’ managers, said This really is a big event! Last year the day was covered by GMTV and Sky TV as well as coverage from all over the world, from Russia to France and New Zealand and Canada. Apparently the BBC will be covering it, too, this year…”
Seems like, since the first of this year alone, the band’s covered a lotta ground and is gaining fans (and selling CDs) at a supersonic clip! Be sure ya get your copy of their latest CD, Run and Hide” — this is one album you won’t wanna miss!!
Well, that’s it for now, but stay tuned … there’s more in 24!
‘Til then, I’ll see ya on the flip side!
