CS&N, Yoko and The Fore
It’s been 40 years since the team of David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash played their first gig together at Woodstock (yes, that “Woodstock”!).
Now they’re planning a new concert tour that’ll take ‘em through North America and Europe! On June 3, they start the tour in St. Louis, Missouri. continue their journey with a 2009 concert tour of North America and Europe, beginning in St. Louis, MO on Wednesday, June 3, 2009.
It’ll end at the Bank of America Pavilion in Boston, MA eleven days later (though a second North American tour is already slated and will run from August through September, it’ll be announced in a few weeks).
Then CSN will play the famous 2009 Glastonbury Festival on June 29 (the show’s already sold out!).
YOKO ONO is putting her artwork to good use this coming Thursday as she unveils her new mural, Promise Peace, in support of the non-profit org, Autism Speaks.
Now, what makes this work really unique is that it’s to be broken into 58 signed puzzle pieces that’ll be auctioned off throughout the month, with the stipulation that they’ll be re-united and re-assembled when a cure for autism is found.
Thanks, in part, to celebs like Jenny McCarthy and “MASH’s” William Christopher - both of whom have children who are autistic — the public is becoming better informed and involved in the fight against autism. Yoko’s art is taking it a step further and making that involvement more interactive.
Besides, it’s an interesting mural with an equally interesting and inventive purpose …
FROM THE FORE-FRONT
Man, talk about fan-friendly:
This past weekend, The Fore played a gig in Sutton, UK and found a pretty high contingent of young French fans rockin’ in the audience.
So, to honor them, Nathan Persad (drummer), who was singing lead vocals on their hit, Man Of Few Words, shifted gears on the chorus and sang it in French in their honor!
They also had a new convert, as such: Perhaps a bit skeptical of the lively, Sixties-tinged sounds of the lads, a young man — a die-hard heavy-metallist — came along to keep his friends company. Well, it wasn’t long before he started rockin’ to the Fore beat … and now is a big fan of the band!
Oh … remember to tune in to ArtistFirst on Saturday, April 11 at 12 Noon EST for the bands’ interview and music from their CD, Run and Hide.
Now … while I’m reworkin’ the sched to get all my work done before I fall asleep at the board againnnnn (yep. Last night. Finally got that “F5″ key outta my forehead …), keep yer eyes on the skies, yer feet on the ground, yer heart with the music …
and I’ll see ya on the flip side!
Awright … if this is about The Beatles, then what’s Spandau Ballet doin’ in the pic? Shouldn’t it’ve been the Fab Four?
In 1961 (1 Apr), John, Paul, George and Pete Best took on 92 consecutive shows in Hamburg (it was their second run)! When ya think about how some of today’s acts (in any genre) complain about doin’ even two in a row, ya gotta admire these guys (as well as other Brit bands who’d do the same thing!) for their determination and tenacity.
In 1968 (2 Apr), the lads went before a photo montage (and some of Madame Tussaud’s wax figures) to create the album cover for Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
One of the greatest tragedies in music history occurred on April 1, 1984, when soul superstar Marvin Gaye was killed. Allegedly, Marvin was trying to keep his mother from being shot by his own father when he took the bullet instead.

It was simple, really: Lights out at 8:30 for Earth Day, light candle. Cat gets too curious. Run for water to put out cat. Trip over dog in the dark. Run back, grab cup of coffee from table and douse. Now house smells like horse hair and cat has caffeine fix. Happy Earth Day!
As an experiment, I took a quarter, shot it into the machine and punched the one upbeat song they had: Thank God I’m A Country Boy (by Denver). When it came on, the sad-sacks began to get agitated; they looked at me like I was gonna be tomorrow’s obituary.
Have ya heard about the new MA (Master of Arts) course bein’ offered by Liverpool’s Hope University? It’s called The Beatles, Popular Music And Society and can be completed in one year!
Hey … didja see the new(ish) banner up there??
Look … throughout the world (and starting in our own areas), there are so many who need a helping hand — especially with the world’s economy bent outta shape.
Looks like the upcoming John Lennon biopic, “Nowhere Boy,” is in trouble.
Okay … to all UK Rockaholics (now, follow me on this):
The Demon Himself, Gene Simmons, has finally broken his silence about KISS’s first new studio album in over a decade.
Bruce Springsteen, Eddie Vedder, Steve Earle, Ben Harper, Tom Morrello and Billy Bragg have been confirmed to perform at Pete Seeger’s 90th birthday gig in May, with proceeds going to charity.
Here’s your chance to hear the band live — no matter where ya live (and I know yer out there, ’cause the RelicMail don’t lie!):
I’ve gotta admit … the double-E’s got both a Twitter and a Facebook page. These two applications are excellent to not only let people know what you’re up to, but also to make some decent friends in the process!
Y’know, in the Sixties, there were thousands of songs that were played and enjoyed … even while some of us misheard the lyrics to some of ‘em. Those are called mondegreens, and are even more common in today’s music.
While Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Bad Moon Rising” had “there’s a bad moon on the rise” and not “there’s a bathroom on the right”, the song “Randy Scouse Git” by the Monkees was full of ‘em (I mean, “mondegreens”, not “bathrooms”).
“Alternate Title”.

I hereby promise that I’ll never complain about Slipknot or GWAR again!
KISS singer/guitarist Paul Stanley brought a ton of joy to a sick child when he made a surprise phone call to the 11-year-old after learning of his battle with leukemia.
THE FORE TO HEADLINE LIVERPOOL’S IPO!
But, to answer your question: the band got their name from a squadron of 1940s USAF pilots whose mission was to … fight foo! (Hey … I’m not kiddin’! Read on:) Y’see, if there were any radar reports of unidentified flying objects in a fly zone (objects that were nicknamed FOO), these guys would be dispatched to investigate and, if they were still unknown and wouldn’t respond to command, overtake or, if necessary, destroy them!
2 more questions: What do u do besides blogging? & U talk a lot about the fore who are great. We got their complication. When r theycoming to the US?
