Beatles Remastered; Dylan’s Predictions

The Beatles …

Y’know, it’s amazing how, even nearly forty years after their breakup, simply the name of this band excites millions of rock fans around the world!
And, after Saturday night’s show for the David Lynch Foundation, which brought Paul and Ringo together for a rendition of A Little Help From My Friends, it seems that interest in the Fab Four is Anthology high again.

With that fresh in our minds, the surviving Beatles announced yesterday that they were digitally remastering the entire Fab Four catalog … and they’ll be ready for worldwide release on September 9, the same day The Beatles: Rock Band video game is scheduled to come out!
These will include all twelve of their original albums, plus Magical Mystery Tour and Past Masters I & II.

DYLAN, OBAMA and THE TELEGRAPH

I dunno about you, but it’s always irked me to read a quote from someone in the body of an article, just to find the headline misquoting it.
That’s what happened when the UK’s Telegraph ran a story on Bob Dylan, who’s been an avid backer of President Obama!

When he was asked if Obama would make a good President, he said: “I have no idea. He’ll be the best president he can be. Most of those guys come into office with the best of intentions and leave as beaten men. Johnson would be a good example of that…”

Okay … didja catch the sentence I’ve bold-printed?  Re-read it, and match it against the Telegraph’s headine:
“Bob Dylan: Barack Obama may leave office ‘a beaten man
‘”

Ummm … I don’t recall him saying that, do you??  He said MOST of those guys (referring to former Presidents)…”
And we all know by now that President Obama isn’t like “most”, right??
So the Telegraph oughtta clarify that and begin printing quotes in-context from now on  …

ROCK OF AGES ROCKS BROADWAY

The musical Rock Of Ages — using the hits of Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx, Reo Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Foreigner, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake and others — opened on Broadway yesterday. The show — described as a modern teen idol story — had rave reviews when it played out west. After the April 27 show, btw, Tommy Shaw of Styx and Kevin Cronin from REO Speedwagon are planning to perform their new single.
Let’s hope it has a long and successful run!

Okay … that’s it from this side of the monitor, so, until later this evening, remember:
Keep yer eyes on the skies, yer nose to the wind, yer feet on the ground … and I’ll see ya on the flip side!
