Good Work, If You Can GET It!

WELL, THEY HAD TO START SOMEWHERE …

With the job market bein’ what it is today, a lot of folks who still have theirs feel like they’re stuck … that, whether it’s flipping burgers, cleaning houses or whatever, they can’t get out of their 9-to-5 rut.  After all, the “better” jobs are too hard to find!
But have ya ever wondered what would’ve happened if these folks thought the same thing?

For example, Jon Bon Jovi once worked at a Burger King restaurant.  And Gwen Stefani worked for rival Dairy Queen.

Madonna worked as a cashier for a convenience store, while Carrie Underwood worked the cash register at a local gas  station.

KISS’s Gene Simmons started out as an elementary school teacher, as did Sheryl Crow.  Meanwhile …

Funnyman and Daily Show™ host Jon Stewart once worked as a busboy in a Mexican restaurant …

Now, I’ll continue this in the next post.  But there is news to report:

DON’T KISS ‘EM OFF YET:  Speakin’ of KISS:  Their long-awaited, brand-new album is gonna take a back-seat for a bit while they’re on their South American tour.
According to Paul Stanley, they will complete the album in time for its release this fall — but their contractual obligations have to come first.

ASCAP (American Society of Composers and Publishers, the second biggest publishing group next to BMI) has named their new CEO.  Yesterday, Paul Williams (composer of the great Star Wars themes and more) was elected to the top post.  His former post, as VP of the org, was taken by composer Jimmy Webb. (ASCAP? BMI? CEO? VP? ok …)

And get this:  As you know, there are “favorite songs” played at funerals.  Well, in the UK, the top songs include: Frank Sinatra’s My Way, Whitney Houston’s Wind Beneath My Wings, annnnnnd …AC/DC’s “Highway To Hell” …. annnnnnnnd …

Boots Randolph’s Yakety Sax (as heard on the “Benny Hill” TV show!).

Now … with that being said, I’m gonna take a quick break here, but stay tuned … there’ll be a lot more in less than 24!  Until then …

see ya on the flip side!
