Aerosmith, Beatles and More …

Sometimes, a band just ain’t got it. And that was the case on Monday night’s Letterman show, when he spotlighted a band called Dirty Projectors.
Okay … so it was their “network television debut.” But, quite frankly, they blew it. I dunno … maybe it was the song they selected, but with staggered tempo and vocals that just didn’t work, their neo-psychedelic punk sound just fell through the floor!
Dave’s gotta work at getting better bands (now, I said “bands”. When he had Imogen Heap on there last week, I was amazed at her inventiveness. I mean, that lady could make music out of anything!). Now, he did get back on track last night, with The Black Crowes (always a great band!). But, alas, acts like that are getting fewer and farther in-between …

On the other side of the coin, it seems like his late night counterpart, Craig Ferguson, can do no wrong. In fact, with the new “high-def” look (and a killer intro that not only has Ferguson singing the expanded theme but has him playing drums in it!), better material and more interaction with the audience, he’s advancing even further in the ratings!
In fact, that’s the only show I’ll stop production to watch!

AEROSMITH GONNA CALL IT A DAY??

For whatever reason since his recent fall, Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler has stopped communicating with this bandmates … and just might call it quits with the band! That’s the word coming down from sources close to the singer. I’ll keep ya posted …

BEATLEMANIA TO HIT AGAIN?

On September 9 — one week from today — the world will get a chance to experience the Fab Four’s music in two ways. First, you’ve got the new Rock Band: The Beatles video “game ” coming out. Then comes the digitally-remastered library of their hits.
This is where Beatlemania might be making a comeback. Of course, we’ve got some new blood who haven’t heard of The Beatles, so it’s an excellent opportunity to not only introduce them to the band that put rock music fully and squarely on the charts, but (as the old saying goes) show ‘em how the music’s really done right …

Okay … that’s it for now, but stay tuned because, sometime late this afternoon, I’ll be back with more!

See ya on the flip side!
